Director of Research
Phil Saksa, Director of Research with Blue Forest Conservation, has more than a decade of experience in ecosystem services and watershed management. He has an applied background of using science to support land management and policy decisions, and a technical background of environmental sensor network installation, data processing, and ecosystem modeling. Phil received a Ph.D. in Environmental Systems from the University of California – Merced, focusing on water supply impacts from forest management, wildfire, and climate in California’s Sierra Nevada. He currently leads BFC’s engagement with academic and research groups who evaluate the ecosystem services provided through our Forest Resilience Bonds, a financial investment tool for wildfire and climate resilient landscapes.
